I am oblivious. I’ll admit it. I went to the post office Monday, to mail some recruiting info - to Louisiana. And I couldn’t figure out why the postal clerk looked at me funny when she said Louisiana. Now I know. Admittedly I had been working all day, and I don’t usually keep the tv on when I’m at work. If I do listen to anything while I’m working, it’s usually business related, and doesn’t have commercials-or breaking news. I still haven’t heard from the girl I mailed the info too. I’m praying she’s ok. I really haven’t written much about Katrina, because it’s just so overwhelming. I don’t know what to say.
Anyways, I’m oblivious. I went to the dentist today. Everything was normal…except gas was $2.99 and there was a lot of traffic on the roads. It was $2.49 on Monday around 1 pm when I went to the Post Office.
I came back from the dentist an hour later, and there were cars lined up outside the gas station, 20 deep. Someone was on the radio saying it was so bad he could barely get through town in his tractor trailer, and had 5 near misses. Apparently there is a rumor going around that there is a gas shortage. I didn’t know a thing about it til I heard it on the radio. It really is wild. They were saying on the tv that apparently there were rumors that they were going to shut down gas stations in GA tomorrow. I guess that would have scared me if I’d heard it too. It’s just wild. There were at least 20 people in front of one station I passed, and every gas station had lines at all of the pumps!
I’m glad I didn’t need gas today

I never want to do that again. It’s times like this that I wish I had dh around. I left him little updates, I’m sure he’ll love it
I got the desk on Thursday, and he kept wondering why I was waiting until today to put it together. I knew it would take a while, but it took me 9 hours. Ok, so I ate, and I had to clean up and rearrange stuff. And take frustration breaks, lol and of course tell Jeff. But I did it. The dumb drawer is about an inch too high, so there is an inch between it and the door. They had pre-drilled holes, so I know I put it where they told me to put it. I am going to wait until Jeff gets back and get him to fix the drawer
I will either have to drill new holes in the drawer, which I don’t think I can do since the other holes will show through, or I will have to move all the rails an inch down. I was wondering if I could just move the front ones down, and have them at an angle. Not sure if that would work. And I don’t have a drill here, so it doesn’t matter.
But I like my desk. I will be proud of myself for putting it together all by myself tomorrow. I’m too tired now.
I’m watching the news about the hurricane. That is so scary. I can’t imagine having to worry about that. We have been so lucky here.
It’s just amazing that they are already taking up funds for relief and it hasn’t even hit yet.
Ok, this is wrong, but they are showing the bumper to bumper traffic, and a big old truck just hit another car. I didn’t think they meant bumper to bumper literally. No one looked like they were hurt-and they cut away to another shot, but it suprised me.
I have a tendency to ramble when I’m tired, so I’m off to bed.

I went out looking for a dress to wear to the reunion today. It’s been a little rainy because of the hurricane, but not to bad. When I left the house, I realized that someone had dumped a bunch of junk in my backyard. Coincidentally, the people that live behind me moved, and have mattresses in front of their house. There are at least 2 trashbags, 4 boxes, one stuffed chair, one printer, one dresser, one night stand, 3 plastic chairs. I was freaking out. I know it’s illegal to dump stuff, and I didn’t want to have to pay any fines that were associated with dumping it. So I called…my parents. They agreed with me and said probably to call the police.
Then when I came home, there was a 20 foot tree branch in the driveway, right where I park my car. I am so glad I was gone when it fell. I knew it was going to fall, and I kept praying it would fall when I was gone. I’m so glad it did, my poor little car would have been squished. I think some of the tiny branches and leaves hit Jeff’s car, but it didn’t mess it up. I am so glad nothing got messed up. I’m still shaking though.
I called the landlord about the branches, and he said he’d be here to get the branches, and he’d probably hall the stuff off too, but he still wanted me to call the police. So I am waiting on them. This has definitely been a day.
It could have been worse, though, and it’s kind of funny, but I hope I don’t have another one like it for a long, long time.
The puppies know I am upset, they keep running around and whining, so I think I’ll go play with them until the police come.

Woo hoo! 4 new people requested that their links be added to Etailers Mall today! They are all in the other category, but I am still excited.
Off to play with the puppies, the poor things need some attention.

I ran across an old friends website today-I actually ran across one of his songs, which lead me to his website. He always wanted to work in the music business, and it looks like he’s getting there. I have to admit, I’ve always wondered when I would see him on American Idol, or some other thing, because I knew he was going to make it, but it looks like he had other plans up his sleeve. I’m really proud of him. I was looking around some more and it looks like another one of our friends is with him. I really hope they make it, and they can make it without compromising themselves.
I am impressed because they have The Salvation Army shield on their site. That’s not something you see on a bunch of music sites. I ran across one from another site, and thought I should put it on mine, but I never checked into it. I guess I’ll have to look some more today.
You know it’s strange how you loose track of people. Sometimes it seems like yesterday that I was working with them (it was 1998) and sometimes it seems like it’s been forever. I think since I met Jeff a lot more things have seemed like they happened forever ago.

The only thing that suprises me is the fact that they are going to give the money back. When I worked at Walmart in 1996 they made sure I knew that if I so much as took the pen from the cash register home on accident, I would be prosecuted as a shoplifter. That was a very important part of their training. Walmart takes shiplifting seriously.
Now if they could take all the money spent getting that $175 back, and hire people who actually know that they are supposed to get the carts in from the parking lot before there are so many carts in the lots that you have to swerve up and down the rows just to drive through them, I might be happy.
I’ve actually seen multiple carts sailing across the parking lot all by themselves on a windy day. It’s sad.

UPDATED!
Unfortunately I have uninstalled the effective brand toolbar. I had 2 occassions where the toolbar took over my screen, opening at least 30 new windows on one occassion. IMHO this is completely unacceptable behavior.
When I wrote the company, they said there was a bug in that version of the toolbar, and all I had to do was download it and I wouldn’t have any trouble anymore. The thing is, I had reinstalled the toolbar the day before, and then I had the errors again.
Even if they had updated the version of the toolbar, which I am not sure they did, I think they should have notified it’s users that there was a bug in that toolbar. After all, if people are using their toolbar to promote their websites, and they are guaranteeing that the toolbar is adware and spyware free, when the toolbar starts opening 30 pages in someones window, the person who is promoting the toolbar is going to lose credibility. And that is not acceptable.
Here is the original message.
I ran across Effective Brand while searching the web, then got a newsletter about the toolbars being good, and spyware free, and effective, so I figured I’d try it. It’s going to be pretty cool. Right now I am planning on having an Etailers Mall site of the day, that will go out everyday. I will also be able to send messages to everyone if there is a sale or a party going on that day. I will definitely not abuse the priviliges though!
I have a radio with preset stations, and you can also add your own stations-the only problem is you just have the call letters for most of the stations, so you have no idea what kind of music they play until you listen to it.
I also have a search engine (they get their revenue from sponsored results from the search engines, so the toolbar is completely free to download) they do offer to let you plug your code in so you can get some of the money from the search engine results too. I also have it set up so that the Etailers Mall logo is displayed on the search engine results page.
I do have the Etailers Mall logo on the toolbar, and if you click on that it takes you to the homepage. I should probably change it so it goest to the mall though.
I also have a link to the forums there.
And I have my very own toolbar chatroom, which is interesting since I was thinking about putting up a chatroom on Etailers Mall.
And I have the RSS feed that allows me to contact everyone with the toolbar.
There are a few other things that you can put on there, and you can also customize it and add links to certain programs after you download it.
The toolbar fits right underneath the google toolbar so it’s pretty cool. Just so you know…I’m pretty paranoid about downloading stuff. I just downloaded the google toolbar today. LOL. But I really do think this is safe.
This is kind of fun. My very own toolbar
I’m off to play some more!
