Chocolate Soap?

Saturday, April 29th, 2006

I tried a bar of chocolate soap that I won in the Happily Handmade giveaway yesterday.

I was so excited to try it - hey what could be better than chocolate soap, after all?

I’ve already tried the Suave Seasonals Whipped Cocoa Body wash and I liked it, but I couldn’t take the cocoa smell every day.

I figured chocolate bar soap couldn’t be too much worse, right?

Wrong!

I waited until my other soap was all used up, and I eagerly opened the elegantly wrapped bar of chocolate soap.

It really reminded me of real chocolate.

Unfortunately, it reminded me of real chocolate not only because of the wrapping, and the size, and style of the bar, the soap came complete with the whitish bloom that is so common when chocolate get’s too old, or it’s too hot.

The bar was made so that it had pieces you could break off - just like real chocolate.

After I tried to wash my hands with the whole chocolate bar of soap, I realized that it was just to big to use in one piece, so I decided to try to break a small piece off, and just use that.

When I tried to break the soap off it felt … rubbery.

It was just strange - who wants rubbery chocolate soap?

The soap also had little black specs in it which made it look more like…you know what than soap.

The soap also had very little lather when I tried to wash my hands, which I really didn’t like.

I don’t mind low lather for shampoo, or face soap, but if I’m washing my hands I want to know they are getting cleaned - especially with all the messes my 3 puppies get into.

The final straw was when I realized that not only was I washing my hands with latherless soap that looked like poop, the cocoa was leaving little trails of brown all over the sink and the soap holder.

So now my beautiful new chocolate soap has a new palace…atop the rest of the trash in the kitchen garbage can.

I kind of feel guilty - I hate wasting stuff.

But in this case, I think I was justified.

Scooby and Scrappy

Scooby and Scrappy - puppies

Scooby and Scrappy want to come out and meet you.

They are jealous since I showed you Hunter’s picture first :-)

They are finally getting used to Hunter.

They are all so cute together.

She is about 8-9 weeks old, and she’s almost as tall as they are - I keep telling DH she won’t get any bigger, but I think she will.

Either way, they are all adorable.

Etailers Mall Updates

Thursday, April 27th, 2006

Hi! I’ve added a bunch of new etailers to Etailers Mall, and I’ve moved the blog to Etailers Mall Blog.

I still need jewelry and makeup etailers, so if you know them send them my way!

The forums, as always are there, and need some posters.

I’m still working on the Etailers Mall yahoo group as well.

We actually had some conversation on the Mystical Beauty Group today. I’m so excited :-)

But I gotta go - DH got off work really early - he’s home now and he was supposed to get off at 5 am.

Toodles.

Dressing Long Hair

Tuesday, April 25th, 2006

I finally got the Dressing Long Hair books by Patrick Cameron.

I’ve heard for years that these books were must haves for long hair enthusiasts, so I was so excited when I was able to get them.

I love the books - but I didn’t do my homework - while most hairstyling books have written directions, these books show pictures of the hairstyles, and you can follow along with them to see how to create the styles. DressingLong Hair also has written directions under the pictures, while Dressing Long Hair 2 does not.

The pictures of the hair styles are absolutely gorgeous, and I can’t wait to try some of the styles out. As soon as I got the book I called DH and told him he was in trouble, because he’s going to have to help me make some of them.

The books show pictures of hairstyles with lengths ranging from slightly below the shoulders, and longer.

You can find an example from Dressing Long Hair 2 here.

Both books can be purchased from Amazon.

I need a job!

Tuesday, April 18th, 2006

:-( My assignment just ended.

I kind of thought it was coming - the unofficial word was that assignments only lasted a year, but I didn’t know for sure.

I realized something funny was going on when when I couldn’t log in to do my time card last night - I can’t believe they’d fix it so you can log in to work, but not enter your time card.

Then I got an email this morning saying I’ve worked for a year as of 4/16/06 and temporary employees are only allowed to work for one year.

That kinda sucked. What a way to let someone know they are no longer employed!

I’m still waiting to see if I will be paid for the 8 hours I worked yesterday.

I certainly hope so!

It’s a good time, and a bad time - I thought I’d been working for them for a little over a year.

We are about to make an offer on a house, and although the bank would not include my income because of where I worked, it’s nice to know that we shouldn’t count on it either.

I’ve been praying a lot lately. Your prayers would be appreciated as well.

Guess what’s in my backyard

The Snake in our backyard

Got any idea what kind it is?

We’re trying to figure it out, but we aren’t having any luck.

I’m not sure if we saw the same one twice, or 2 different snakes - I was so concerned with making sure that Hunter didn’t see it and go after it because I was scared she would get hurt.
