Loose Lips New York Review

Friday, August 31st, 2007

It’s amazing to see how often you can wear blue eyeliner when you have a blue eyeliner you really love.

I’ve been using Loose Lips New York’s Indelible Gel Eye Liner in Tidal Wave for the majority of the past two weeks.

It’s held up very well to everything, except 6 hours in 90 degree weather at the Renaissance Festival. Of course I don’t think anything I’ve ever tried would have held up through that.

I was really surprised when I first applied the gel, because even though I was using my normal eyeliner brush, Loose Lips New York’s indelible gel eyeliner went on so smoothly! I actually had to stop and look at the brush to make sure it was the same one I’d been using.

Although the liner appears to be almost black on my computer screen, it’s a deep, almost navy blue, and it’s beautiful. Even though I have blue eyes, I had no problem wearing the eyeliner, and I think the color accentuated the blueness of my eyes.

I also tried the Hint Of Mint Lipgloss in Mint Babydoll.

I was a little scared when I saw the color, because I didn’t think it would work with my skintone, but I was pleasantly surprised. The gloss went on sheer, and I could feel a nice minty tingling for 3-4 minutes when I put it on bare lips. The tingle wasn’t quiet as noticeable when it was used over lipstick, or lip liner.

When the gloss was used with lipgloss or lip liner it made the color appear a little deeper, and shimmery. I haven’t had any color with the lipgloss wand picking up color from the other products, but I was trying to be careful.

I was also impressed with the medium mineral foundation, although it was a tad too dark for me, it had a nice matte finish. The ultimate eye shimmer in buff also made a great highlight color or all over wash, and didn’t disappear during the day.

Manor Hall Soap Company Minty Minty Review

Tuesday, August 21st, 2007

I love Minty Minty!

Whether it’s in shampoo or soap, I love the fresh smell of mint in the morning, it’s so engergizing!

I’ve been using Manor Hall Soap Company’s Minty Minty Natural Bar Soap for about 3 weeks, and again, I’ve had no problems with skin irritation, or dryness.

The soap is fresh and smells wonderful, and there’s still a lot left - if you’ve used bar soaps you know that some of them can “disappear” pretty fast, and this one hasn’t.

The fragrance is strong enough for you to smell it in the bathroom, but it seems to disappear afterwards, so you don’t have to worry about it clashing with your perfume.

This is a definitely a great soap, and I give it 5 out of 5 stars.

The elusive hunt for the perfect earrings

Friday, August 17th, 2007

I have a problem.

I’m allergic to earrings.

Allergenic, non allerginic, it doesn’t matter.

In the last 10 years I’ve been able to wear one pair of earrings.

Of course these earrings were purchased for me when I was a bridesmaid in my friends wedding, so of course they are a little too formal to wear the majority of the time.

I went to things remembered, where my friend got the earrings, and asked the salesperson what they were made of. She said it was just regular sterling silver.

I’ve tried sterling silver in the past, and it doesn’t usually work, so I’m still not sure what the deal is.

Over the week I gave in and ordered some Epiphany platinum clad diamonique earrings from QVC.

I figured maybe the platinum clad earrings would help.

I got the earrings today.

Before I even put the second one on, my first ear was burning.

Yeah, I’m a glutton for punishment, so I kept wearing it to see if the pain would go away.

Believe it or not, it didn’t.

Within 10 minutes of their arrival the earrings were packed up and ready to go back to the store.

Twenty minuts later, my ears still feel like they are on fire.

I guess I’ll be on the non earring guest list for a bit longer :-)

If you know of any (easily returnable) earrings that you think would work for my delicate ears, I’d love to know about them.

Milani’s French Manicure Nail Lacquer Take Two

Friday, August 3rd, 2007

I tried Milani’s French Manicure Nail Lacquer in Lily Valley with Creative Nail Designs Super Shiney high gloss top coat, and Stickey Base Coat on Monday. Umm, I’m not going to tell you how old the top coat and the base coat are :-).

I mentioned in my first post,Milani’s French Manicure Nail Lacquer Review, that I had trouble with streaks on my right hand.

This time, after the application of the base coat, I had trouble with streaking on both hands, but I found out that if I put on a thicker coat of nail polish, I didn’t have trouble with streaks at all.

Unfortunately this is supposed to be a sheer nail lacquer, and I liked the sheer lilac tint that I got the last time I used the polish. With the heavier coats, the polish was pale pink color, instead of the sheer lilac that I fell in love with.

The nail polish actually didn’t chip Tuesday! But it started chipping Wednesday morning in the shower.

I was really surprised that with the top coat and the base coat, the polish actually seemed to chip a lot faster than it did without it.

Here is a picture of my nails on Thursday. Milani Nails With Super Shiney Top coat and Stickey Base Coat

You can see that the polish is a lot darker than it was in the original picture, and that a lot more of it is gone.

I thought the reason for wearing a base coat and a top coat was to keep polish from chipping, but in this case it made the polish chip more. What’s up with that.

I’m sure I’ll try this again, but next time I will probably just use one coat of the polish, with nothing else.

If it’s going to chip the next day, I might as well just do one coat, and try to get the pale lilac color that I like best.
