Paula Begoun’s Response to the The Campaign for Safe Cosmetics recent report about lead in lipsticks can be found at Lethal Lipsticks.
She definitely brings up some great points - after all, you don’t really eat lipstick like you eat candy.

I think I’m giving up on the RareMinerals Blemish Therapy.
As much as I want to like it, it isn’t doing anything for me, and I can’t handle the smell.
I stopped wearing the Blemish Therapy in the morning because I was self conscious about the smell. I know my husband could smell it, and I didn’t want anyone else to smell me, and wonder why I smelled like sulfur.
Since I have large pores are around my nose, I put the blemish therapy around my nose at least an hour before I go to bed, and I still wake up in the middle of the night with the sulfury smell of the blemish therapy in my nose.
I’m also not noticing the promised reduction in blackheads, smaller pores, or fewer breakouts.
I have to say that I am very disappointed that the blemish therapy didn’t work. So many reviewers on QVC said that they saw dramatic results immediately, and of course, I hoped I would see dramatic results as well.
If I was seeing the promised results I could deal with the smell, but since I am not seeing them, I’m not willing to put up with the smell on a regular basis.
Bye Bye Blemish Therapy.

Christina from eBeauty Daily has a response from PeaceKeeper cosmetics regarding the recent tests for lead in lipsticks.
You can read it at Peacekeeper Lipstick Defense.
The response does bring up some interesting points - especially regarding the limits for lead in candy.

There’s yet another article out about lipsticks containing lead.
You can read it at Lipsticks Contain Lead, Consumer Group Says.
The study the article references was done by the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics, and can be found at A Poison Kiss: The Problem of Lead in Lipstick.
33 brand name red lipsticks were tested and over half contained detectable levels of lead.
The FAQ about the report also says that unless you have access to laboratory testing, you can’t make sure that your lipsticks don’t contain lead.
Smurfette posted another story about lead in lipstick,Pretty Little Lie, which also contains information about lead in Estee Lauder, Clinique, and Arbonne lipsticks, in the Mystical Beauty Forums in February.
The article also contains responses from several companies about lead in lipsticks.
Will knowing that certain lipsticks contain lead affect the brands you use, or the amount of lipstick you wear?
I’ll probably avoid the lipsticks that tested high for lead, but since only red lipsticks were tested, and I’m not in the market for red right now, it won’t really affect me.
Several different brands also had different amounts of lead in different colors of lipstick - the Wet N Wild Mega Colors Cherry Blossom had less than 0.02 ppm lead, but the Wet N Wild Cherry Frost had 0.06 ppm lead.
So you can’t just say no Wet N Wild lipsticks have lead in them - some formulations do, and some don’t.

The bushynose pleco fry are doing great - and Monday we noticed more eggs in the taco.
Rumor has it that they only breed during the fall, and I’m hoping that’s the case, or we’ll be swimming in tons of pleco babies soon.
There were just over three weeks between the first eggs, and the second eggs, so we’ll see what happens next.
As of now Spike still lets the fry in the taco with him and the eggs, but I’m wondering if that will change when the eggs hatch.

Urban decay has changed the look of their liquid eyeliners, so they’re letting the ones in the old packaging go for 2 for $20. Some of these liners are discontinued too, so you better stock up soon.
The price is listed as $14 but the discount will show up in your cart.

You can read part 1 at RareMinerals Blemish Therapy Review.
I’ve been using the RareMinerals Blemish Therapy for a little over a week, and although I haven’t noticed a dramatic reduction in the number of pimples or the time it takes for them to heal I’m pleased with the product.
I do think that the large pores on and around my nose are less visible, but it’s really hard to tell for sure.
I still don’t like the smell of the product.
I don’t mind putting it on at night, or in the mornings if I don’t have to go anywhere for a while.
If I do have to leave the house in the morning I’m scared to wear the Blemish Therapy because I don’t want to smell like sulfur all day long.
