I’ve been looking forward to reading Beauty Confidential by Nadine Hoabsh since I found out that she was writing a book.
I started reading Nadine’s blog after she was fired from one job, and had a job offer from Seventeen magazine rescinded after being outed as the writer of the blog Jolie in NYC. Sounds like a bad day, right?
I really enjoyed reading Beauty Confidential, even though it took me forever to get enough peace and quiet so that I could enjoy reading it.
As a former beauty editor, Nadine focuses on the wide world of beauty, including skin care, hair care, hair removal, and perfume, so if you have a narrow definition of beauty, there might be a few chapters that you want to skip.
Don’t.
There’s lots of good stuff to learn in the book, and you’ll probably find something that you need to know, and didn’t know you need to know it.
For example, I learned that the Burt’s Bees Buttermilk lotion that came in the set I gave my Sister-in-law for Christmas is good for ezcema. Who knew?
I really loved that Nadine named names of the products she recommended -and was honest enough to tell us when she didn’t like certain products that other people loved.
Beauty Confidential also provides price ranges for all of the products mentioned in the book, and information about where to purchase them.
Trust me, that’s very important when you read about a must have product, and you can’t find it anywhere!
If you’ve read Beauty Confidential, I’d love to know what you think, if you haven’t you can purchase it below.

MAC’s Queen Sin Lipstick is a beautiful, intense red that actually looks great with my fair skin.
I love the intense color, even though it’s a little drier than the lipsticks I’m used too.

I’ve really enjoyed playing with the MAC Royal Assets 6 cool eyes collection, and trying new color combinations.
The colors are rich and vibrant, although they can be toned down if you so desire.
When I first got these I was a little concerned that I wouldn’t be able to wear the darker pink color, but it blended in beautifully, and as long as I wore an eyeliner or made sure that the pink wasn’t right on my eyelash line I didn’t look like I had been crying or had pink eye.
This collection is very beautiful, and it’s what I wore when we had the whole family over for Christmas!

Hi, Happy Holidays!
I hope that you’re having a great week.
It’s a little hectic over here, so I thought I’d share a review of Sugarelle’s Chunky Scrubbie Bar that I did for Sarah’s Surprises.
I hope you enjoy.

I recieved The Holiday Collection Volume 1 DVD from Beauty Cast to review about a week ago.
I’ve seen a lot of makeup tutorial’s and I’m really impressed with this one.
The camera had close up shots of the parts of the face that were being worked on, so I could see exactly where the makeup artist started using a color, where she stopped, how she was holding the brush, and how she was moving the brush, which made it really easy for me to understand how to recreate the look.
I also loved that the DVD used real people - with wrinkles and all, instead of using “perfect” looking models.
I also learned a few things that I didn’t know before, like that you could use a fan brush to whisk away powdered eyeshadow fallout without smearing the shadow into your foundation. I’ll definitely be trying that trick soon.
I really enjoyed The Holiday Collection, and the next time I need some makeup inspiration I’ll be pulling it out again.
