Hi, I had a great Thanksgiving, and I hope you did too.
If you don’t celebrate Thanksgving then I hope you had a great day anyways.
Did you do any shopping on Black Friday?
We got all sorts of stuff - a programmable crockpot, a tablesaw for DH so he can make some trim for our new windows and some other odds and ends, but my favorite thing is our new microfleece sheets from Target.
They are so warm and comfortable, and they’re actually big enough for the bed - even though we’ve been getting sheets with extra deep pockets we’ve had trouble with the pockets being to small.
It’s nice to be able to put the sheets on the bed without having to fight with them.
DH was wonderful and had the sheets washed for me when I got home because I was so excited to try them out, isn’t that sweet?
The sheets are so warm and comfortable that Scooby and Scrappy, who usually pile up under the blankets on the bed, are just lying on top of the sheets - I haven’t seen one of them under the blankets - or the sheets yet today.
The only trouble is that Jeff got too hot and started sweating in the middle of the night.
Oops.
What’s the most exciting thing you’ve bought or tried lately?

Jeff and I had lunch at the Golden Corral on Thursday, and he’s been sick every since then.
I was lucky - I didn’t get sick until Friday morning.
It’s just a cough/stuffy nose thing, so it’s not too bad, but I was home yesterday, and bored, so I was going to do my makeup.
Then I decided not to do it, because I didn’t want to introduce any germs into it and have to throw it away.
Do you wear makeup when you’re sick?
If you do, do you take any precautions so you don’t contaminate it?
If so what are they?
I don’t think I’ve ever decontaminated my makeup, and usually when I’m sick enough to worry about getting germs in my makeup, I don’t feel like doing my makeup.
Of course I always wear lip balm, so I’m wondering what to do about that.
Any suggestions?

I picked up a couple of bags of Image Essentials flocked sponges, or Flocked & sponge makeup puffs as they call them a couple of weeks ago.
I love using the flocked side of sponges to apply mineral foundation because it gives me more coverage.
This is the first time I’ve tried the Image Essentials brand, and I’m really happy with them.
I’ve gotten sponges before that left lint all over my face, and these don’t.
I’ll definitely by these again.
Do you use flocked sponges?
If so what brand, and what do you use them for?
If not why not?

Tomorrow, November 15, is America Recycles Day.
That got me wondering if you recycle, and if you recycle your makeup stuff.
We had a discussion over a year ago about What do you do with unwanted makeup and came up with some pretty good ideas, including donating it to a women’s shelter, giving it to friends or family, posting it on craigslist, or freecycle, swapping it, or returning it.
Can you think of other ways to recycle your beauty products?
I try to use refills for my liquid hand detergents instead of buying new pump bottles every time I need more soap, and although I’ve saved a few jars that would be perfect for adding the pigments from sample shadow baggies, or mixing pigments in, I haven’t exactly gotten around to do it.
I’ve also used a couple of eye creams that didn’t work as hand cream, but that’s all I can think of now.
Can you think of any other ways to recycle your beauty or skin care products?
If you can, please share.
And Happy America Recycles Day, even though it is a little early.

I’m not big on playing with my brows (although I probably should pay more attention to them), but when I heard that Elke Von Freudenberg was doing a brow line, I knew that she’d do it right.
I was excited to try some products from her line, The Model Brow, and so far I’ve been very impressed.
Brow tamer is a clear, water resistant eyebrow wax that can be applied before, or after eyebrow pencil or shadow.
It’s great to be able to spend a few seconds applying the brow tamer with a stiff brow brush, and then being able to forget about my brows for the rest of the day!
I also tried the Nite Brow shadow in Wana, a shimmering gold color, which can be used wet or dry, or as an eye shadow.
Nite Brow gives a little kick to the brows, and I have to confess that I’ve even worn it in the daytime with no ill effects.
If you subscribe to The Model Brow’s Store newsletter before November 28, you’ll have a chance to win a $100 gift certificate to The Brow Collection.

I’ve been using the L’oreal Bare Naturale Mascara off and on for about a month now.
At first I didn’t really like the mascara - it made my lashes darker, and longer, but not thicker, which is what it’s supposed to do, but I want thicker lashes.
I haven’t noticed a problem with clumping with this mascara, but it can be “wet” a little bit longer than other mascaras.
I thought I was done with my makeup once, but I realized later that there were little mascara marks under my eyes, which has never happened so long after application before.
Now that I’m using the mascara I’ve realized that I don’t look so bad without volume.
I’m not sure that I’d buy this one again since I like L’oreal Voluminous so much, but if I wasn’t looking for volume (and there wasn’t anything new that I wanted to try) I’d purchase it again.
If you’ve tried this let me know what you think!
Did it meet your expectations?
Too much coverage? Too little?
