Cover FX Skintint FX and #130 Foundation Brush Review

Monday, May 25th, 2009

I recieved the Skintint FX ($42) in C Light a while ago, but I was a little scared to try it because it looked too dark in the tube.

I was playing around with it yesterday, and I realized that it blended into the back of my hand perfectly, so I tried it on this morning. However, the skin on my face must be a little bit lighter than the skin on my hands, because the Skintint FX was just a tad too dark for me.

If I was using sunless tanner I think the C Light would be perfect for me.

The Skintint FX, which is a moisturizing and treatment tint with SPF 30, applied very smoothly with just a hint of coverage.

It really didn’t feel like anything was going on, or like anything was on my skin after I’d applied it with the Cover FX #130 Foundation Brush.

The #130 Foundation Brush ($34) is made with synthetic taklon bristles if you don’t like using real bristles.

The brush is big enough to make foundation application easy, without taking too much time, and without being to big to get every where. I have another foundation brush that I never use because it’s so small, so it’s great to find one that actually works without taking too much time.

With this brush, I actually look for reasons to wear liquid foundations so that I can use it.

Skintint FX is cruelty, oil, paraben, and fragrance free.

If you’ve tried it or the brush, leave a comment and let me know what you think about it.

Ahh Sephora

Saturday, May 23rd, 2009

We made it to the Mall of America last week, and ended up going right by Sephora.

Although I wasn’t planning on going in (I’ve got too much to buy to get ready for the baby) I had too.

I don’t know why, but being in Sephora made me so happy.

Maybe it’s the hormones, maybe it’s because I know it’s the last time I’ll be in Sephora without a baby, maybe it’s because I would have regretted it if I hadn’t gone in when I had the chance.

Who knows.

I did check out the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion while I was there.

The tubes at Sephora didn’t have the new wand that’s pictured on the web site, and I’m not sure if there are any other differences.

Both the Nude and Sin primers applied smoothly, although I only applied them to the back of my hand.

Sin was a nice shimmery color, that I can definitely see myself wearing, and the new primer disappeared into my skin.

It’s nice not to have to worry about it making my the area around my eyes look a shade lighter or darker than they are.

It’s kind of funny.

My parents moved away from Atlanta, and the two things I’ll miss about not going to Atlanta are Sephora and Ulta.

I know there are a couple of Ulta’s on the way to Minneapolis, so I’ll have to check them out for sure!

Dove Visibly Smooth Anti-Perspirant/Deodorant Review

Tuesday, May 5th, 2009

I’ve been using the Dove Visibly Smooth Anti-perspirant and deoderant in Nature Fresh for about three weeks, and so far I’m very pleased.

The Nature Fresh scent is light, and I can’t smell it during the day, which is a big plus to me - I don’t want someone to ask me what scent I’m wearing, and have to explain that it’s my deoderant.

Although I haven’t tried the Wild Rose scent yet, when I gave it a test smell, the scent was a light rose scent, and it’s one that I could even see wearing even though I’m not a big fan of rose scents.

Dove Visibly Smooth helps minimize the look and feel of underarm hair over time, by making hair feel softer, finer, and easier to remove, while providing you with 24 hour odor and wetness protection.

It’s also safe to use after you shave.

I haven’t had any problems with wetness or odor while I was using it, although admittedly, I haven’t done anything strenuous.

I’m just getting back to feeling normal, instead of feeling exhausted all the time.

If you want a little extra pampering for your pits during sleeveless shirt and swimsuit season, Dove has come up with a new beauty treatment called the Piti-Cure.

If you want to try it, here are the steps:

Step 1: Use gentle exfoliating scrub or wipes to cleanse underarms helping to draw out impurities.

Impurities in the underarm area can cause unwanted underarm irritation (e.g., folliculitis/ingrown hair); exfoliation and cleansing will help to relieve this

Step 2: Rinse off and gently dry underarms with towel

Step 3: Apply Dove Visibly Smooth anti-perspirant/deodorant

That sounds pretty simple, doesn’t it?

Will you try it?

If you’ve tried Dove Visibly Smooth anti-perspirant/deoderant leave a comment and let me know how it worked for you.

If you’d like to try it check out the Dove site - there’s currently a printable $2 off coupon available on the site.

Dove Visibly Smooth will hit the shelves Friday, and it will be available at Walmart.

The Beautyfix 2 Review

Friday, May 1st, 2009

I got the second Beautyfix last weekend, and I’m pretty excited.

You know me, I had to grab the makeup first.

I’d already checked out the Beauty Fix site, so I knew what was coming, I just didn’t know which color of the Global Goddess iDivine Eyeshadow I’d be getting, or if I’d be getting the Bella Bronze Golden Chamomile and Goats Milk and Self Tanner, or the Olive Oil and Shea Butter Tan Extender.

Since I like surprises, but at the same time I don’t like to waste money, I think it’s really fun that you can see most of the items that you get when you purchase the Beautyfix, but there are still a few surprises (like which color, or the tan extender or sunless tanner) thrown in to keep you excited, and wondering which one you’ll get.

I ended up getting the iDivine Eyeshadow in Aishwarya, which is a beautiful darkish purple with gold flecks. Of course, I can’t find this color on the Global Goddess web site for some reason (ahh I just found out it’s because it hasn’t been released yet), but it is a beautiful color.

I immediately put it on, and I loved the way it looked, and how easily it applied.

I’ve also tried the Kerstin Florian Spa Face Aromatherapy Neroli Water, and although I don’t personally like the smell, it isn’t enough to bother me.

Since I’m having trouble with a face that is dry enough to need moisture, but that gets too oily if I put any type of moisturizer on it, the Aromatherapy Neroli Water is perfect, because it adds just enough moisture so that my face doesn’t feel uncomfortable anymore, without adding so much that I feel oily or greasy later in the day.

I’ll let you know what I think about the rest of the products as I try them.

If you’ve tried them let me know what you think!

I’m having trouble deciding which one to try next :-) .
