Revlon Colorstay Soft & Smooth Lip Color Review

Saturday, October 31st, 2009

I actually went back to Target to get another Revlon Renewist Lipcolor, but I ended up getting the Revlon Colorstay Soft & Smooth Lipcolor instead.

This one was also on sale, and ended up costing me about $1.83 after I used a coupon.

The lipstick was a beautiful color, and lasted, but it was a little drying.

I actually haven’t used this lipstick much since I initially tested it, and I ended up giving it away before I finished this review, so I’m not even sure what color I used.

Skindinavia Makeup Finishing Spray Review

Monday, October 26th, 2009

I was asked to review Skindinavia Makeup Finishing Spray ($29 for 4 oz) in July, and shortly after I received one to review I received another one in the Beautyfix Kit that I was sent to review. You can see my first thoughts on it at Skindinavia Makeup Finishing Spray: Beautyfix First Thoughts.

I’ve been using the makeup finishing spray off and on since then, and during that time I’ve used liquid foundation with and without primer, several loose mineral foundation powders, and one pressed mineral foundation powder.

The Skindinavia has worked great with all of these foundations.

I just pump a few squirts onto my face after I apply my makeup, and my makeup is set.

The finishing spray does say it has a “unique cooling technology that keeps makeup from melting, smudging, and losing color,” and it definitely cools on contact.

That felt great in the summer, but I don’t turn my heat on until it gets really cold, so I was a little apprehensive about spraying a cold spray on my face when I was already cold.

Fortunately, it wasn’t that bad - it was similar to applying cold liquid foundation, which I used to do all the time.

My favorite thing about the Skindinavia Makeup Finishing Spray is that when I use it, my foundation doesn’t transfer.

Bare Escentuals foundation has a bad habit of transferring when I blot my face, or blow my nose (gross I know, but I have to be accurate, right?), and when I used the Skindinavia with it, I didn’t have to worry about that.

It was so nice not to see the foundation all over the paper, and not to have to worry about how much foundation I just wiped off.

The makeup finishing kept my makeup in place, and I will definitely keep using it!

Cover Girl Outlast Sparkling Wine Review

Saturday, October 24th, 2009

I went a little crazy at a 90% off sale at a Rite Aid that was closing, and I got Cover Girl Outlast All Day Lip Color for about $1, even though I know the All Day Lip Color’s never work for me.

Unfortunately, this one is no exception.

Within about 10 minutes of applying the color and the moisturizing top coat, my lips were dry again, and I had to reapply the moisurizing top coat.

A little bit after that I started feeling like the lip color was balling up on my lips, leaving my lips with an unpleasant gritty feeling.

It’s a shame that I won’t be wearing this again, because the color is so beautiful.

Rain Shower Heads and Long Hair Don’t Mix

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009

We had to get a new faucet set for the master bathroom, and we ended up getting one with a rain shower head.

I’ve always loved the idea of rain shower heads - who wouldn’t love a nice soothing rain of water in the shower, but I never really thought that they’d work for me.

I’ve been using a hand held sprayer with adjustable settings since high school, and one of the first things I got when I first moved out was a shower head, so I could thoroughly rinse my hair after I washed and conditioned it.

Regular shower heads usually don’t have enough “oomph” to get everything out of my hair, and if they do, I usually need to be able to adjust them to get the length of my hair rinsed properly.

I knew when we bought this faucet set that the shower head probably wouldn’t get all of the shampoo and conditioner out of my hair, but I decided to go ahead and try it, just to see.

I love long showers, but I actually got annoyed at how long it took to rinse the conditioner out of my hair this morning.

Guess I’ll be looking for a new shower head, or using the guest bathroom for a little bit longer.

Do you have trouble rinsing your hair?

What have you found that works?

Hard Candy Plexi Gloss Arm Candy Lip Shine Review

Thursday, October 15th, 2009

I received Hard Candy Plexi Gloss Lip Shine in Arm Candy, $5.00 to review several weeks ago.

The gloss is a pale pink with pink glitter, that gives a beautiful hint of color and shine.

Plexi Gloss Lip Shine is a little sticky, and has a faint sweet smell that I can only smell when I’m applying it.

Overall, I’m really impressed with the gloss, and if my husband didn’t mind when I wore sticky glosses, I’d definitely get some more.

Hard Candy products are available exclusively at Walmart.

Shock and Awe

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009

I just got back from my 37 week appointment with my ob/gyn.

The baby is doing great, and my doctor said that we could have a baby next week.

I knew that she’d be fine if she was born after 38 weeks, but I guess I never really thought that she’d be early since I was late.

I’m excited :-).

I can’t wait to meet her, but we’ve still got a lot to do to get ready for her, although things would be fine if she came now - well, after I pack the hospital bag of course.

Yes to Carrots C Through The Dry Spell Deliciously Rich Body Butter Review

Friday, October 9th, 2009

I got the lotion for about $10.99 at Target several weeks ago.

With a name like C Through the Dry Spell Deliciously Rich Body Butter, I figured for sure that this would help combat the dry feet I’ve been suffering from while I was pregnant.

Boy, was I wrong.

I’m not sure if it’s because I’m pregnant, because I’m so pregnant it’s hard for me to reach my feet and Jeff had to put on the lotion, or if it’s just because this was a really bad product, but this is the most disapointed I’ve been with a beauty product ever.

I thought this would be a nice body butter, that would leave my poor tootsies moisturized, but usually within an hour of application I was begging Jeff to put on some more.

He thought I was going crazy, since he’s never seen anyone who needed lotion applied to their feet 3 times within 4-5 hours.

I should have known when I broke the seal going across the top of the jar, and realized that this body butter wasn’t any thicker than the Johnson and Johnson’s head to toe fragrance free baby lotion that I’d been using on my hands, that this wasn’t going to work, but I didn’t want to take it back, so I kept it, and was miserable the whole time I used it.

I have slightly dry feet, at times, but it’s been worse this year.

I don’t have severly dry feet with rough cracked skin, or severe callouses - they aren’t baby soft, but they aren’t badly damaged either.

I’d been happily using the green by nature shea body butter, when I ran out, and realized that I still couldn’t find it at my local Target, then of course, I was too cheap to buy it and pay for shipping on Amazon. That was a pretty dumb move.

My plan was to get something from etsy, but I couldn’t make up my mind, and got tired of waiting, so I went to the several stores, and decided on this.

Needless to say, it didn’t work, no matter how much I applied it, unless Jeff mixed it with Aquaphor.

Of course using Aquaphor alone, or mixing it with any of the other lotions I have around the house would have worked just as well, and saved me $11.

I can’t tell you how many times I woke up in the middle of the night with dry feet and couldn’t get back to sleep after using the C Through the Dry Spell Deliciously Rich Body Butter, even if I’d already had 2-3 applications before bed.

Needless to say, this one product I won’t be buying again, and I probably won’t purchase anything else from this line either, just because I got so angry when I was lying in bed unable to sleep because of my dry feet, and unwilling to wake Jeff up just to have him put on some lotion.

Why wake him up, and have both of us be miserable?

If you’ve tried this, I’d love to know what you think?

Did it work for you? Feel more like a lotion or a body butter? Was it mosturizing enough?

Leave a comment and let me know what you think - I want to know if I’m the only one that feels this way!
