Buff’d Cosmetics Concealing Mineral Foundation Review

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

I recieved several samples to review from Buff’d Cosmetics, and I’ve really liked all of them.

I was excited to try the Concealing Mineral Foundation in Lace ($18)and I was pretty impressed with it when I did try it.

The first time I tried it, I poured a little too much from my sample baggie into my buff palette, and I was pretty surprised when I looked at myself in the mirror after applying it.

All the imperfections, including a few broken capillaries that I’ve only been able to cover up when I’ve used Bare Minerals with a concealer brush, were gone - and I was only using a kabuki brush, not the puff that I usually use when I want more coverage.

There were no differences in skin tone - my face truly looked like a blank canvas.

So naturally, when I had wanted to put on a little makeup so my “company” that insisted on coming over at 10:00 am on Saturday even though my husband told them repeatedly not to come, wouldn’t know that I was in my room crying because my plans for the day were ruined, and because I didn’t see why anyone with any sense would insist on coming to visit a couple with a 2 week old baby on a Saturday morning after they’d been told not to come 3 times, and after they were told the day before that my husband was planning to sleep until noon that day.

Aren’t postnatal hormones and in-laws wonderful?

It’s a shame that we weren’t rude enough ignore the door, but if we ignored the door and their phone calls they would call the police to come check on us, and I really don’t want to deal with that.

Anyways, the Buff’d Cosmetics Concealing Mineral Foundation covered all of the ruddiness around my nose, and no one had a clue that I’d been crying 5 minutes ago.

I was really impressed at that - I didn’t think anything would be able to cover my red nose, but I was sure glad that I was wrong.

Merlot Natural Grape Seed Purifying Peel Off Mask Review

Monday, November 16th, 2009

I love peel off masks.

Maybe it’s because it brings back childhood memories of peeling glue off my hands, but for whatever reason, I think they are fun.

I was really disappointed when I realized that my old favorite peel off mask had parabens in them, since I am trying to avoid them, so I was really happy when I found out that the Merlot Purifying Peel Off Mask($16), didn’t have parabens.

Finally, a peel off mask I could use again.

I have to be honest - I haven’t used the mask twice a week, as suggested, but I have been happy when I have used the mask.

I was having trouble with oily skin and blackheads while I was pregnant, and I have large pores, and the mask is supposed to “cleanse skin, eliminate blackheads and impurities, and minimize the appearance of pores.”

I love that the mask is supposed to cleanse - it’s nice not to have to wash my face before I use a mask, since that always makes me cold.

The mask did seem to help with blackheads, and it didn’t leave my skin feeling dry or tight.

I think it was a little easier to peel off than my old mask, but it’s been so long since I’ve used it that I really can’t remember.

I did discover that if I peeled the mask off while I was in the tub, the mask didn’t dissolve, so you might not want to do that unless you don’t mind pieces of mask floating around in the tub with you.

Other than that, and let’s be honest, I’m not likely to be peeling the mask off in the tub any time soon, I didn’t have any problems with the mask, and I’ll definitely be using it again.

I’m really glad that I was sent this product to review.

She’s here!

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009

I had my little girl Saturday night.

I wanted an October baby, but not a Halloween baby, so of course she was born on Halloween, but that’s fine.

My birthday is so close to the holidays that I didn’t want her to have to deal with a birthday on a holiday, but I’m sure she’ll be fine with it.

Both of us are doing well, and of course she is adorable.

We were in such a rush, that when I told my husband that I had to get some makeup, he told me to just take the whole case, so we did.

I wasn’t going to put any on, but then I got bored, and it helped take my mind of the contractions when they were still mild.

Of course, it had all worn off by the time the baby was born at 10:44pm, and I didn’t put any more on until today - the day after we came home from the hospital.

Did you wear makeup when you were giving birth?

Did you take makeup to the hospital?

If you haven’t, do you plan on it?
