MAC Cosmetics Mattene Lipstick in Rougette is a beautiful, matte, wine berry lipstick.
I don’t normally wear matte lipsticks, but I have to say this one makes me feel glamourous.
In fact, the first time I wore it my husband said “Is that a new lipstick?”
He never notices my lipstick.
The mattene lipstick is a little drier than I’m used too, but that’s because I’m always using gloss or lip balm over my lipstick.
And if I do slip up and apply a little chapstick over it I don’t end up with a horrible sliding mess of lipsticks across my mouth, if I’ve properly prepped my lips by outlining them with powder.
I do notice a faint, sweet odor when I apply the lipstick, but it only lasts for a second, and it isn’t enough to bug me.
Rougette leaves a beautiful faint pinkish berry stain behind when it wears off, so I’m able to wear it when I know I won’t be able to reapply my lipstick, without worrying that I’ll end up wearing no lipstick as time goes on.
Here’s what the MAC Cosmetics website says about it:
With its streamlined design, this new slimline lipcolour, features the traditional glamour properties of a matte lipstick – intense colour and semi-matte velvety finish – while offering a creamier, softer, more glide-on application. Non-caking, non drying. Moisturizing and incredibly wearable yet absolutely matte.

I’m not a huge fan of matte lipsticks either, but I tried mattene in rougette and have to agree that it’s beautiful. Mac did a great job on it.
