Where do you keep your makeup brushes?
I keep mine in several places - the ones I don’t use regularly are in the bottom of the gold canister that the MAC Heirlooms 5 Basic Brushes came in, and that stays in one of the built in cabinets in the bedroom.
The Billy B Beauty brushes are mostly still in the black Billy B brush roll that resides in my makeup case, while the brushes that I use daily are in a black zip top brush case that also resides in my makeup case.
Where do you keep your makeup brushes?
Do you have brushes that you use, and brushes that you don’t use?
If you do are they kept together?

Alice Cosmetics Eye Shadow Guard, $3.99, is a great tool that helps keep you from ending up with mascara or eyeshadow where it shouldn’t be.
It did take me a few times to figure out exactly how to hold the eye shadow guard while I was applying my shadow - and my eyeliner, but after I figured it out, it definitely worked.
If you’ve tried an eye shadow guard, I’ve love to hear what you think about it, and if you have any tips for using it.

I’ve been really happy with the Jane Be Pure Mineral Liquid Foundation.
Of course since I have been wearing powder mineral foundations for the past several years, I haven’t worn pressed powder, so when I tested the Jane Be Pure Mineral Liquid Foundation I didn’t wear any powder with it.
It took me two days to realize that my mascara was smudging because I didn’t have any powder over the liquid foundation that I was wearing under my eyes, but that’s the only problem that I had with the Jane Be Pure Liquid Foundation.
My face did get a little oily, but that’s to be expected with my skin.
I didn’t experience any breakouts while I was wearing this foundation, and my makeup didn’t seem to fade any faster than it normally does - with the exception of the mascara smudges.
This will definitely be my first choice for liquid foundation the next time I want to wear it.

If you’ve been involved in the online beauty world for a while you might remember when Milani Luminous Blush was all the rage.
I was one of the ones who had to have it, and after I got it I fell in love.
Luminous was my go to blush for everything, and if I could only have one blush for the rest of my life this would be it.
I remember freaking out when I heard that Milani was discontinuing it, but by the time I heard it was out of stock at all of the stores in Savannah.
Even when we moved I went looking for it - I even called Milani’s customer service to see if they carried Milani locally after I couldn’t find it at any of the stores around here.
Of course they didn’t :-(.
I never found a backup Luminous and I started to only use my old blush for special occassions.
As time went by the stores around me started carrying Milani, and one day when I was looking I saw it.
A blush that said “Luminous” on it.
But…it wasn’t the same as the old powder blush.
This blush was Milani Minerals Blush with brush, so I wasn’t sure if it would be the same.
I’ve heard horror stories about makeup that changed their formula and it was never good as the original.
I looked online, and didn’t find any comparisons of the two Luminous blushes, so I was nervous about getting it.
After a few weeks, I decided to go straight to the source, and I emailed Milani and asked if the new Luminous was the same color as the old Luminous.
They replied and said that it was 95% the same.
I went to the store, and looked through all of the Luminous blushes to see which one looked like my old Luminous blush.
I thought about carrying the old one into the store, just to make sure they looked the same, but I was embarrassed to, so I didn’t.
I got the Luminous, and tried it on, and it looked good, but I thought it was a little bit peachier than my old Luminous, in the pan, and on my skin.
I’ve switched between the new and the old for over a week now, and to be honest I always thought there was a little bit of a difference, but that it was still within the 95% range that Milani said it was.
Then today, I decided to do swatches.
It looks almost exactly the same on me.
I’m so excited!
No more searches for the perfect blush, no more hoarding the old one because I am scared I’ll run out.
Now I can wear my favorite blush whenever I want too, with no worries.

I recently read something about mixing your own makeup, and for the life of me I can’t remember where I found it.
If you know, let me know and I’ll link to it.
Anyway, it inspired me to try mixing some of my own colors, so this morning I poured a little Key West Palm shadow, and way too much tootsie shadow (from the now defunct Twisted Fayte) into my trust buff palette.
The Key West Palm is a “gorgeous blue-green shade with gold undertones and a shimmer finish,” while Tootsie looks white with a lot of pink and green iridescence in the sample baggie, but goes on sheer with a pink iridescence.
I wasn’t really sure what I was expecting - I just wanted to lighten the Key West Palm a little because it’s a pretty bold color.
After dumping the excess Tootsie back into the bag it came from, I mixed the two colors together with my MAC 239 brush.
I ended up with a paler version of Key West Palm with a pretty pink iridescence.
The new color looks green on my eyes, but it looks blue in the swatch - unless the light hits it just right - then it looks pink.
My first experiment went pretty well - except for pouring too much shadow from the bag into my palette, but overall I’m excited, and I’ll probably be mixing a few more colors in the future.

Do you prefer wild or mild eyeshadows.
I like playing with color, but I don’t usually were overly bright eyeshadow colors, unless I’m using the shadow as liner.
I normally wear light brown or taupe, and pale purple or blue shadows, with a black or silver shadow used wet as liner.
And of course I wear mascara, although I didn’t when I was wearing contacts on a regular basis.
I have been experimenting with more vibrant colors though, but when I wear them in public I feel self-conscious the whole time.
I think part of it is that I’ve been looking at lots of different eye makeup looks for my Eye Shadow and Eye Makeup Tutorials lens, and while some of the looks are great, some of them just don’t look right to me.
I’ve seen a lot where the shadow colors don’t look right with the person’s facial coloring, and I have to wonder if they wear that look out in public :-0 !
And obviously if they’re doing a makeup tutorial for the look, they must think it looks good, so I wonder if what I think looks good on me really doesn’t.
At least when it comes to the wilder looks.

Have you noticed people who’s eye looks don’t seem to go with their facial coloring?

I finally found the Jane Be Pure Mineral Foundation in Walgreens yesterday - it was in a separate display for free after rebate stuff, and not in their Jane display.
I was so disappointed when I got there and didn’t see any liquid foundation at all, but I went about the task of choosing the right formula, and color, which was kind of hard since they didn’t have the sale price marked on the Jane display, and they didn’t say which ones are free after rebate, so I didn’t know which ones I could choose from :-).
I finally decided on the Be Pure Sheer Mineral Powder in Light, which does not look anywhere near as yellow as it does on Jane’s web site.
Of course after finding the foundation I had to decide on a color all over again - I’m pale enough that some foundations don’t have a color that is light enough for me, and if I find a foundation that works, I’m ususally the lightest shade in that foundation.
Of course right now I have a hint of summer sun, so I wavered between the fair and ivory shades because there was no tester.
After carrying the ivory foundation around for a while, I finally decided I better get the fair instead.
I’m glad I did - the fair blends perfectly into my skin - I don’t have any pictures of it for you, because after I put it on my hand I couldn’t find it anymore :-).
I felt silly putting a swatch up that looks just like the back of my hand, so I didn’t.
Forgive me :-).
I always apply liquid foundations with a nonlatex sponge, but I did test the Jane Be Pure Mineral foundation with my fingers.
The foundation applied smoothly, and disappears into my skin.
It provides a hint of coverage, but I don’t think it’s going to be able to cover up the circles under my eyes or the tiny broken capillaries on my nose - of course that’s what concealor is for.
Over all I’m happy with the foundation and at $4.99 or free after rebate I think it’s a great deal for someone who is looking for a liquid foundation with light coverage.
Stay tuned for an update after I’ve used this for a couple of weeks.
