Whew SEO

Sunday, August 14th, 2005

Whew, I am finally getting around to working on the SEO stuff that I’ve been learning on Cricket’s Yahoo SEO group. It’s hard work. I’m only working on Mystical Beauty now, I am waiting until we get the rest of the kinks out of Etailers Mall. Pretty much all I did was make separate pages for each of my reviews, and try to get good names for them. It will be interesting to see how it works. I have a few more pages that I am going to add in the next few days.

Jolie In NYC-the dangers of blogging

Sunday, August 7th, 2005

Have you seen this story about Nadine Haobash who lost her job after her blog became public? That’s just wild-especially since the job was with a magazine. I have heard several people say that they have cancelled their subscriptions to 17 magazine, which rescinded Nadine’s job offer after her blog became public.

You can see an interview at it on MSNBC.

The thing that’s funny to me is that 17 has it’s own little black book gossip section, that lets you guess which stars did certain things-and yet they won’t let her work for them because she wrote a public blog about the industry.

Well, still no work. The site is having trouble. I was a little worried over the weekend, but now I’m fine. I guess problems happen.

I’ve had a lot of time to clean, and take care of the SEO classes. I am learning a lot, but it’s a lot to take in at one time, the good thing is that I can stay as long as I need to, so that’s nice.

I have decided it’s not a good idea to put all your eggs in one basket though, so I am going to start applying for more jobs and see what happens.

Entrepreneur.com networking marketing info

Saturday, July 30th, 2005

I was checking out http://www.entrepreneur.com/ and they had info on direct sales under the topic of 40 small businesses to start now. I was excited.

I’m free, I’m free

Thursday, July 28th, 2005

No more work for me to do today. I’m relieved, and disappointed. I’m trying to get as close to 40 hours a week as I can, and it’s hard. It’s a lot harder to sit here and work at home than it is to sit in an office at work. When you work with other people, you can stop and talk-or even stop and talk to your customers. When you work at home you are working by yourself. You have to sit there and work, and give your employer those 8 hours. No leisurely coffee breaks-no regular breaks either. Of course it’s been a really long time since I had scheduled breaks, but I could get up and walk around a little, or get some water, and fix my food without worrying about getting “caught”. Now, I am pretty much sitting here the whole 4 hours, with only really quick bathroom or drink breaks. I try to only work 4 hours at a time because that’s about how long my attention span is, or how long I can work without needing to stand up and walk around some. It’s a big difference. I feel like I have so much more time now that I am only working 8 hours a day-as opposed to constantly looking for work, and worrying about how I was going to get money-of course Jeff doesn’t mind, but I want to contribute, and I feel bad when I can’t. I was suprised at first at how tired I felt the first (ok the only week so far) week that I worked 8 hours straight. Oops, telemarketer :-( I lost my train of thought. So bye.

SEO Class

Wednesday, July 27th, 2005

OK! The SEO class starts tomorrow. I came on at the tail end, so I’m ready to get started. I’ve read a few messages, but not many since I knew we were at the end of the group. It can be a little confusing since they keep the group open continuously and you don’t really know where you are when you join. I was kind of thinking about waiting for the next class anyways, since I don’t have much time, so it was great that I just signed up over the weekend, and came right at the end.

Etailers Mall Web Design

Wednesday, July 27th, 2005

Well, I just got the two designs of etailers mall to choose from. They were both really great, and I although I loved the second one, I decided to go with the first one because it was more professional. I am really excited. I can’t wait to see how it turns out. And it looks like a logo will be included too, and I really wanted a professional logo for Etailers mall, so I am really excited. When I first read the ad, I didn’t think that graphics were included, now it looks like they are.

Duh! I just now realized that I might get some exposure from being in the web design portfolio. So that will be great. I’m not too sure how things are supposed to work, so after everything is done I will post the name of the design firm and everything. I am really impressed, everything has been so easy. I’m used to doing business solely online for work, but I’m still impressed at how easy everything has been so far. Plus the designs that I was given to choose from were actually online so I could really see what it would look like once I got the site up and make it mine. Don’t ask how I was expecting them to show it to me…but I really didn’t expect to be able to click on a link and see it, and go and look around. Can you tell I’m excited.
