get a plant just because it’s called a lipstick plant?
I got a Lipstick Mona Lisa last week.
It’s doing pretty well so far. Which is good because I don’t have the greenest thumb.
We went to the store to get strawberry plants - for some reason I’ve wanted to grow strawberries for years - it probably has something to do with the tiny little strawberries that grew near the steps at my grandparents house, and with the fact that although I like strawberries, I get sick to my stomach after eating one or two. At least if I grow them, I’m not buying them and letting them rot.
Anyways, we got the strawberries, which unfortunately seemed to be gnat infested. That was not fun, I wouldn’t even let DH bring them in the house to take them to the backyard so they could be planted.
We also ended up getting the lipstick plant, and a tomato plant.
The planter I had for the strawberries was too small, so we went to walmart for another planter, and ended up with cantaloupe and morning glory seeds, petunias for the old hanging basket, and some lily bulbs.
I also dug up some old tulip bulbs I have, so we should have a nice garden…if whatever dug a big hole in both ends of the planters will stay away and stop eating the bulbs.
I think we are off today to buy another window planter, and another hanging basket for the morning glories
What fun!

Happy St. Patrick’s day!
The fountains are green and the party people are flowing into town!
DH is working, so I’m not going to see the parade
I went once, and it was fun, but it took way too much time to find a parking space, so I am going to pass this time.
I don’t like driving - can you tell?
It’s even worse when I have to drive and parallel park
Hope you have a great day!
Sarah
PS I hope I remember to wear green before I leave the house!

OK, I did it! I signed up to write a novel in a month at National Novel Writing Month, aka NaNoWriMo! I must be feeling adventurous today.
I’m excited, and nervous. I’ve never written a novel before
I’m sure this one won’t be the greatest in the world, but it will be fun. And the sheer fact that you have to write at least 50,000 words in a month, with no real regard to plot and character and all that jazz lessons the need for perfection.
I’m excited, and I’ll keep you updated. If you want to join go ahead
The month starts Nov 1st, and you have until Nov 30th to write and turn in 50,000 words. Go ahead and give it a try!

Ever had one of those days when you just can’t figure out what book you should read next, and your only hope is to go to the library, and hope they have something that looks decent on the display of new books?
Just hop on over to What Should I read next?, and hope your library has what they recommend!
I think this is a really cute, fun site. You can also register and add your favorite books to the database…which I haven’t done yet

doesn’t speak pig latin! In fact, he’s never heard of it. I can not believe that. How on earth did I marry a man who’s never heard of pig latin.
He must have thought I was completely crazy when he read the email the dogs wrote him in Pig Latin…hey, he’s the one who told me they were emailing him in their secret language…I was just trying to make an honest man of him.
We now interrupt this broadcast to bring you…this post in pig latin thanks to the english to pig latin translator, which I found while I was trying to tell my husband about the site.

Wow Remember the I want to be an Anita Blake Character auction?
Guess how much this went for? $7,100! That’s more than they expected to raise, and it’s even more than they needed to fix the sewer lines at Granite City APA, which is where all the money raised from the auction will go.
That’s really impressive!
So, if price was no object, how much money would you pay to have a character with your name in your favorite book?
I don’t even know. I think $7,000 is still to much for me, but if I had that much money laying around, and all my needs and desires were taken care of (wouldn’t that be nice?) I might do it.

Yes, I’ve been having fun with the Smurf Name Generator. Wanna see what happened?
Very Tall Smurf and Slappy Smurf smurfed me, and told me to tell Noxious Smurf to smurf Chesty Smurf and Phlegmy Smurf over to play.
They really want to see Smurf, Smurf, Smurf, but they know that will happen soon enough.
