Mystical Beauty’s Musings

Time for another reader question!

Mary left a comment on Cutting Long Hair that basically said:

Hi, I need a bit of advice. I’m 17, and 5 ft 1 inch tall, with hair that hangs to my knees.

It’s very thin, but also very soft and shiny. I can’t do anything with it. I can’t have have it down, have it up, curled, or even in a ponytail.

Its forever in a bun because it is too thin.

I’ve been begging my mum 4 years to let me get it cut.

Now she’s said yes.

I dont know what to do with it.

I need it cut to about the middle of my back.

Has anyone got any suggestions to make it look good.

It’s a big change for me and I’m scared. Haha, Please help.

Mary I can imagine that such a drastic change would be scary.

I have thin hair, that isn’t as thin as yours, and I would suggest a non layered cut to the middle of your back.

When I had layers my hair always looked layered - it never looked like it was supposed too.

Of course since your hair is different it might be fine.

Self Trimming Instructions for long hair shows pictures of the straight across trim, the U shaped trim, and the V shaped trim that might help you decide what you’d like.

I’d love to hear what you decide to do, and thanks for visiting Mystical Beauty’s Musings.

If you have any suggestions for Mary please leave a comment and let us know about them.
